A Walk, A Creek, A Poem

I try to walk every day. Somedays I just walk around our neighborhood, while other days I venture out on a nearby greenway that crosses a creek a couple times, but basically follows the creek for several miles. I enjoy very much being near water rather creek, river, or the ocean. Something about the babbling of rapids, the continued movement of the water, or the rhythmic crashing of ocean waves on the beach, I just find water soothing.

Often, when I am walking on our nearby greenway alongside this creek, I will stop and just experience the creek and jot down some thoughts in the form of a poem. I don’t consider myself a poet, but I do believe we all are able to examine ways to express ourselves through various forms of art. Here is a recent thought through verse I expressed on a recent walk…

I find myself yet here again
But know that it’s my first
For what I see,
And what I hear,
My soul will leave here nursed
