If you have not read the first part of this short series, I invite you to visit that post, Memories – Part 1, as well.
Sometime back my daughters provided me a gift of a package containing 3 shelves. They had in mind a specific use for them …. To construct, in my office, a display of the coffee cups I collect from my “wanderings”. I recently added a couple shadowboxes and, with consultation from the house boss, completed the display as seen in this photo.
There, on that wall are displayed various cups and coffee cup sleeves; however, what this display truly represents are countless memories of friends and time spent with friends and family. Memories of casual encounters with strangers and baristas. I once visited a local coffee shop named, The Klatch, I even took Debra back for a morning cup of joe and pastry. The meaning behind the name of this coffee shop reflects many of my memories on that wall. The word klatch comes from the German klatsch, meaning a “meeting at which people gossip”. However, the English translation has made an “attempt” to render the gathering more acceptable by defining as a “social gathering, especially for coffee and conversation”.
So, today as I meditate and pray over this verse from the Psalms, I am reminded how blessed I am with friends and family. The time spent, and the conversations had, in these coffee shops have provided many opportunities to experience joy from the fragrance of the coffee, and a heartfelt pleasantness from countless interactions. I thank God for each of you, as well as the blessings God has provided through you. I encourage you to spend time today in your prayers to thank God for your circle of friends and family, and the blessings He has provided in your life.
Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.
